1. Description of Service

The App provides access to publicly available building permit information obtained through the City of Chicago's open data resources and application programming interfaces (APIs). The App is designed to make building permit information easier to view, search, and analyze.

The App is an independent application and is not owned, operated, endorsed by, or affiliated with the City of Chicago.

2. Data Source and Accuracy

Building permit information displayed in the App is sourced from publicly available City of Chicago data. While we strive to present information accurately and keep the App functioning properly, we do not guarantee that the information is complete, current, accurate, or error-free.

Permit records may be updated, delayed, corrected, or removed by the City of Chicago or its data systems. Users should verify permit information directly with official City of Chicago sources before making decisions based on the information provided by the App.

3. No Official Government Service

The App is not an official City of Chicago website, service, or government application. The App does not issue permits, process permit applications, provide legal determinations, or represent the City of Chicago.

For official permit information, requirements, approvals, or regulatory questions, users should contact the appropriate City of Chicago department.

4. Permitted Use

You may use the App for lawful purposes, including viewing and analyzing publicly available building permit information.

You agree not to:

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App and its information are provided on an "as available" and "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Construction Permit Intel by weblafi, its owners, developers, and affiliates shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, claim, or expense arising from:

7. Third-Party Services

The App may rely on third-party services, including public data APIs, payment processors, hosting providers, and other service providers. The availability, performance, accuracy, and reliability of these services are outside our control. Construction Permit Intel by weblafi is not responsible for outages, interruptions, delays, inaccuracies, or misinformation originating from third-party providers.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Privacy

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, and protected.

We collect only the information necessary to provide your account and subscription. This generally includes your email address and subscription-related information. Payments are securely processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card information. For more information about how Stripe handles personal information, please review Stripe's Privacy Policy.

10. City of Chicago Permit Data

When the City of Chicago Data Portal updates its building permits dataset daily, it typically reflects permits processed and issued up to the previous business day or processing cycle, meaning same-day newly issued permits usually experience a slight lag before appearing online.

Update Schedule and Details Frequency: The Department of Buildings updates the database daily (Monday through Saturday).

Processing Lag: Data feeds and automated portal syncs usually capture records from prior processing blocks, so a permit approved or paid for earlier this morning will rarely show up in the exact same day's initial data refresh.

Active Status: A permit record enters the public dataset only after it is officially issued and the applicable fees are cleared.

11. City of Chicago Data Portal Disclaimer:

“This site provides applications using data that has been modified for use from its original source, www.cityofchicago.org, the official website of the City of Chicago. The City of Chicago makes no claims as to the content, accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any of the data provided at this site. The data provided at this site is subject to change at any time. It is understood that the data provided at this site is being used at one's own risk.”
